TelevisionClive Barker’s Nightbreed Coming to SyFy as New Series

Deadline reports that Clive Barker’s epic Nightbreed is coming to the small screen as a series on SyFy.

Nightbreed was original brought to the big screen in 1990 under the directorial helm of Barker and starred Craig Sheffer, Anne Bobby, David Cronenberg, Doug Bradley and Nicholas Vince. The film is a commentary on race relations in America through the lens of humans and monsters. It’s a wonderful fantasy/thriller that shows a new perspective from the monsters that live in our closets or under our beds – except they all live in the city of Midian and damnit just want to be left alone.

“There has never been a more relevant time for us to turn to one of the genre’s great cult classics from our movie library to impact the national conversation with bold, compelling and unconventional storytelling,” said David Robinson, President of Morgan Creek Entertainment Group. “The team at Morgan Creek is very excited to partner with Clive Barker, Syfy and Universal Cable Productions on Nightbreed for a unique, trenchant and no-holds-barred exploration of race relations in today’s society. As a sophisticated twist on the classic graphic novel form, Nightbreed pits ‘Humans’ against persecuted monsters, using metaphor and parable to take on bias and prejudice with real-world consequences.”

The series is currently being written by Jigsaw and Piranha 3D creator Josh Stolberg and no timing seems to be released just yet, however we could be looking at early 2019 before the creatures of Midian take over our screens – and I cannot wait!

Geeky a Go Go

Geeky a Go Go was the brain child of Anthony Pizzuto, and was really just a way for him to become a "micro influencer" and a way to boost his ego. It has since grown into a multi-headed alien from the Outer Rim - nowhere near as cool as The Nerdist, but pretty damn close.
