Cast announced for ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’

Alvin Schwartz’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark kept me up for hours on end when I was a kid. These folktales of horror were amazingly frightening. I still have that story about a big toe planted in a garden burnt in my brain… “Where is my big toe???” Eww… Just thinking about this gives me the creeps. What’s worse is the artwork by Stephen Gammel. Those black and white illustrations are the stuff...

And the lights go out on Broadway – goodnight Mr. Simon… Goodnight…

Neil Simon passed away yesterday, August 26th, 2018. I didn’t know Simon personally, however he had such an impact on my life and career that you would have thought we were fast friends. Many actors can say that of the playwright because he was, for most of us, the creator of a broad swath of work that allowed us to grace a stage and convey lines that made audiences laugh, cry, laugh so much they...

Kelly Marie Tran opens up about cyber bullying

This past June Star Wars newcomer Kelly Marie Tran made the tough decision to remove herself from social media after she was subjected to abuse and harassment for her role as Rose Tico in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi. Tran talks about her decision to leave social media in an eye-opening op-ed for the New York Times today. “It wasn’t their words, it’s that I started to believe them.” Says Tran, who goes...

Deep Thoughts with Anthony Pizzuto: Been there, done that, bought the movie theater.

I love Amazon. You know that… They are a force that just doesn’t seem to stop growing in scope and scale. They’re like that project from hell that goes so far off the rails you forget the objective of the project to start with. What started as an online bookseller has turned into a massive marketplace for everything from books to home goods, bathroom fixtures to original movies and television shows. They have it all....

[Trailer] Pegg and Frost reunite in Slaughterhouse Rulz

It’s here – the trailer for Slaughterhouse Rulz has dropped and we get to see the dynamic duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunite after a four-year hiatus.  I’ve always loved these two. They remind me of me and Tony Cox – although I’m not sure who is who in this scenario since I feel we share traits of each! Maybe it’s the fact that we have an awesome dynamic when we perform together that...

ET’s Exclusive Halloween photo makes me feel good about this redo of the redo

Entertainment Weekly shared an exclusive photo from the upcoming Halloween (2018) sequel, and while the image is simply our original 1978 heroine Jamie Lee Curtis in 2018, it gives me a sense of calm. After all, this is the second “reboot” of an amazing 70’s and 80’s franchise. Rob Zombie brought the franchise back in 2007 with a re-envisioning of the film that spawned a 2009 sequel. Both movies weren’t that bad, however, I’m not...

When I’m not basking in the glow of an intro crawl in a galaxy far, far away – you can find me basking in the darkness of horror films. I stumbled across this trailer over at bloody-disgusting.com, and I have to say – I’m intrigued! I love a good docuhorror (Lake Mongo is probably one of my favorites). The Hunt for the Skinwalker takes place in Utah’s infamous Skinwalker Ranch, which has been a paranormal hotspot since...

New Comic Book Day round up: Wonder Woman #52

I’m kicking off my comic reviews this week by picking up on Wonder Woman. Steve Orlando is really delivering on the Amazing Amazon. Aztek, last seen in Justice League of America, put out a call to Wonder Woman and Artemis to search for a missing amazon warrior. Who is this warrior of legend? One hint is she’s integral to bot amazon women. The big bad this time around is Tezcatlipoca. Tezcatlipoca, is the God that...

Oscars jump the shark and add new, pointless category

Darwin’s theory of evolution is “…the process by which organisms change over time as a result of changes in heritable physical or behavioral traits” – apparently the Oscars, an odd organism unto itself, realized that it was time to evolve with the ever-changing landscape of poor ratings and real consumer tastes. Now, instead of the event being a self-indulged love fest for Hollywood’s A-listers – and a celebration of their politics, we now have a category for...

Castle Rock 360 virtual reality experience

Screw the narrative, just dive right in. How. Cool. Was that? I love it when brands/companies make immersive experiences like this. Similar to what Disney did for The Force Awakens VR experience on the Samsung Gear our friends at Hulu threw us a creepy bone and created something similar for their new Stephen King series Castle Rock. I recommend watching this video on full screen, in the dark for the ultimate blood pressure raising experience....
