It was announced yesterday that Apple+ has renewed Monarch: Legacy of Monsters for a second season, which is great if you loved the show but what’s more exciting is that Apple+ has struck a deal with Legendary Entertainment to produce several spinoffs within the Monsterverse. The plotlines though, as expected from the likes of Apple, are tightly under wraps.

For those of you behind on your Apple+ queues, the plot line of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is pretty straightforward:

Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later when Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga — spanning three generations — reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.

According to Apple, the upcoming season is executive produced by current showrunners and co-creators Chris Black (Severance, Star Trek Enterprise) and Matt Fraction (Iron Man 2, Thor: God of Thunder) as well as Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita who are executive producers on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla Character.
