Speak No Evil (The Remake) Coming Soon!

If you’re like me, you spend your Friday nights with your partner scrolling through the tranches of Netflix and Prime to find a great movie to unwind with. Last year my wife and I stumbled upon the Danish horror/thriller film “Speak No Evil” and have been, pretty much, completely disturbed about our family vacations ever since.

Speak No Evil is one of those films in the vein of Funny Games where seemingly normal people, through consistent passive-aggressive actions, end up turning what should be a family-friendly experience into something that rocks pretty much everyone to their core.

And now we’re getting a remake because God forbid there’s an original idea out there.

Leading the cast as the antagonist is X-Men and M. Night Shyamalan alum, James McAvoy. Who, if you remember his performance from “Split”, you’ll realize that he’s already got this role half in the bag. He’s joined by Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049, Tully), Scott McNairy (Blonde, Luckiest Girl Alive), and Aisling Franciosi (Stop Motion, Game of Thrones).

The synopsis of Speak No Evil is pretty standard. A family is traveling and meets another family who is also on vacation. They become fast friends and the families agree to a weekend holiday together. I mean, who doesn’t want to go on a weekend holiday with a bunch of rando strangers (pro tip: not me).

And that’s when things get weird. And before you can say that it gets even weirder, it gets hella dark and then downright disturbing.

And as a special bonus, check out the original!

While I’m always game for a good horror film, I’m moderately annoyed that the original has only been out for 2 years and it’s already getting a remake. The Danish original is spectacularly disturbing and really stands on its own. To our friends in Hollywood, come up with something new.

And of course, I’ll be there on opening night.
