When Disney lost the rights to 1928’s Steamboat Willie, the precursor to Mickey Mouse, we knew we were in for a ride. When Winnie the Pooh entered the public domain in 2022, it was announced, almost a day after, that Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey was coming to a screen near you. Yes, our beloved characters from the 1,000-acre woods were being turned into savage serial killers.
I mean, why not right?
So as foreseen in episode 5 of the Geeky a Go Go Podcast, now that Steamboat Willie is in the public domain, we’re in for a horror treat. That’s right folks. Screamboat is coming to theaters in 2025 from the producers of Terrrifier 2 and The Mean One.
So what will this piece of cinematic gold be about? Well according to IMDB.com, a late-night boat ride turns into a desperate fight for survival in New York City when a mischievous mouse becomes a monstrous reality. Can a motley crew survive a killer creature with a taste for tourists?
As someone who took the Staten Island Ferry almost every day for almost ten years, I can tell you that pretty much any ride after midnight can be swirled into that synopsis.
While we await the first trailer, here’s the Blood and Honey 2 trailer (yes there is a sequel) to give you a glimpse into what we’ll possibly see.
