Good horror movies are hard to come by. Fortunately, we’ve had some mainstay houses putting together scares over the years, one of which was Dimension Films who distributed flicks like Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth, Children of the Corn 2: The Final Sacrifice (it wasn’t), and Fortress to name a few. Dimension was owned by The Weinstein Company, and unless you’ve been hiding under a rock since Trump got elected, you know by now that The Weinstein Company was purchased by Lantern Capital earlier this year. The horror romp Polaroid was announced for release on October 4th 2017, however just one day after the announcement allegations of sexual misconduct were broadcast out about Harvey Weinstein, and the rest, well, was history.
Until Netflix got involved to save what looks like a fun teen scream fest.
Yes, our hero to those who’ve been left behind, read: Fuller House, Arrested Development, Black Mirror, the list goes on and on and on and on and on… stumbled onto this chestnut and is working out a deal with Lantern to bring Polaroid to the masses.
Polaroid follows Bird Fitcher who finds herself the owner of a mysterious Polaroid camera which she soon realizes causes death and dismemberment to those whose image it captures. The film was written by Hell Fest’s Blair Butler and Stars Kathryn Prescott, Tyler Young, Grace Zabriskie and our favorite Assistant Director, Mitch Pileggi.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed we’ll get this in time for the Halloween season of scares!
