Fox accepts Disney’s newest bid, $71.3 Billion.

Last week Marvel fans where dealt some bad news when it was announced that Comcast outbid Disney’s previous offer to buy 21 Century Fox’s media empire.

Today Disney got super aggressive and Fox accepted their bid of $45 per share, upping the total buy out value to over $85 billion with Disney assuming $13.5 billion of Fox’s debt.

If this passes the regulatory hurtles it has in front of them, this deal will permanently bring home Marvel favorites like Deadpool, The Fantastic 4, Doctor Doom, Galactus, and X-Men. They still will not have full control over Spider-Man and the Spider-Man characters. This will also put Disney fully in control of Avatar, a good move since Flight of Passage and Navi River Journey are two of the hardest FastPasses to get at their Orlando theme park.

Further titles that will be added to the Disney wheelhouse are: This is Us, Modern Family, The Simpsons, Homeland and more.

What’s NOT clear yet, is how this merger will effect an old 1994 licensing agreement Disney inherited when they purchased Marvel for $4 billion back in 2009. The agreement simply states that Disney can not use Marvel characters or theming in any theme parks east of the Mississippi River. Thus allowing Universal to keep their Marvel themed attractions in Orlando to compete against Disney. Disney has snuck in a Guardians ride though planned for Epcot.
